Jen's Therapeutic Approach

Our work together will be a blend powerful, evidence-based techniques tailored to your unique needs.

Your therapeutic journey may incorporate talk therapy, mindfulness practices, Jungian dream-work and somatic interventions that connect mind and body. We'll explore family of origin patterns through a person-centered lens, while specialized approaches like EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts therapy provide deeper healing.

When words aren't enough, we may engage creative pathways through art, movement, and music. The healing power of nature and community may also become valuable elements of your journey.

While therapy isn't always easy, the work we do together opens the door to meaningful transformation.

My therapy style is warm, empathetic and inviting but can also be challenging. The work I do with clients is deep rooted - which means at times you may feel uncomfortable. However, my clients grow and challenge themselves in ways that continually surprise them. It is an honor to witness. As your counselor – I am in here for you every week, I am your champion holding space with unconditional positive regard.

My approach is tailored to each client's unique needs. Below are some of
the modalities and tools I apply to foster healing and growth.

I have specialized training in IFS and EMDR.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps manage the parts of us holding emotions and
improve internal awareness to provide insight.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps process
    trauma and distressing memories.
  • Unconditional Positive Regard - This is my base. The cornerstone of person-centered therapy (also known as Rogerian therapy), emphasizes the therapist's deep and genuine caring for the client, accepting you as you are, meeting you every time where you are at with deep empathy and compassion.

  • Narrative Therapy empowers individuals to reframe their life stories.
  • Somatic Therapy connects the body and mind to release tension from
    trauma.
  • Jungian - Helps with dream-work and understanding unconscious states and archetypal patterns
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps change negative thought
patterns that affect feelings and behaviors.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) encourages embracing
emotions while focusing on actions aligned with personal values.
  • Art Reprocessing - with 15 years as an art teacher, I have many creative interventions in my back pocket for anyone interested in processing through art. Creativity process uses another part of the brain and can help connections from the analytical brain.
  • Mindfulness - I have many years leading meditations and developing mindfulness programs for the University of Montana's wellness program. Mindfulness is a another great option for softening thoughts, anxiety and creating calm and rejuvenation.
